I just became the head boys’ basketball coach at Woods Charter School. While preparing for summer workouts, I received a call from a parent, named Vickie Smith.
Vickie says, Preston (her son) will be attending Woods Charter and is interested in playing on the varsity basketball team. I was elated to hear, as I was looking for players.
Within the next couple of days, Preston attended the summer workouts. After seeing him, it was very obvious he was special!
Over the next 4 years (playing varsity basketball), Preston led our team in every statistical category, including amassing over 1,000+ points. But his most cherished accomplishment was leading the team to heights never achieved!
I can go on and on about the basketball accolades. But our most cherished accomplishment is the “off-the-court” relationship formed! There is nothing I wouldn’t do for Preston. I love him like a son!
Bottom line: I will definitely help your kid become a better basketball player, but my aim/mission is to form a life-long relationship that will contribute to them becoming the best version of themselves.
