Last week, at the end of basketball camp, I was complimenting a camper on his work ethic. I said, “Son, I’m very impressed with your attitude and your ability to be coached!”
Soon after, the kid replied proudly, “Coach Berry, my goal is to play in the NBA!”
Although making the NBA is tough, the kid’s willingness to think big was impressive! With this mindset, he’s destined to be great at whatever he decides to do in life!
This hit a nerve with me. Oftentimes, I see aging adults go in the opposite direction by thinking small. I don’t like this! Their rationale is they’re getting older, and it’s time to slow down! BANANAS!!!
It’s my belief, as you get older, you should make it a point to keep challenging yourself mentally, physical and spiritually. If you significantly slow down or stop, what’s going to keep you going?!
Whatever you do, fight this urge to “shut it down”, regardless of what others say!
Allow your kids to see the vibrancy in your being! As Dave Ramsey says, “More is being caught than taught!” Your kids are watching and modeling you!
When you never stop living, you’ll live a more fulfilled life and be an awesome example to your kids (young and old).
